The Heartland Heroes Hunt was created to show appreciation to our wounded soldiers by bringing them AND their families to our community to show them we support them and are grateful for the sacrifices they and their families have made.
Each solider and their family will be provided 3 nights of lodging and 2 days of hunting provided by Tall Grass Outfitters, Big Prairie Hunts and Beavers’ Game Farm, LLC. All meals, personalized activities, and numerous gifts donated by our community are also given to each family.
The costs for this entire event are raised by Heartland Heroes, Inc. through heart-felt contributions from corporations, local businesses and individuals that support our cause.
Participants are selected from military Warrior Transition Units and through The Wounded Warrior Project. Individuals are screened for physical and mental capabilities required for the event.
Those selected to participate in the rehabilitating event are encouraged to bring their families to Southwest Kansas. The hunt and the local community give each family a needed respite from their daily fight to recover and rebuild their futures.
The overwhelming impact the first three Heartland Heroes Hunts on the lives of the participants and those involved in making it all happen has led the way to making this an annual event going forward.
